EMS System Advisory Council
Iowa Code Title X, Chapter 422D.2b outlines the establishment of a county emergency medical services (EMS) system advisory council. This council is responsible for assessing and reviewing the emergency medical services needs of the county annually. The council then provides recommendations to the board of supervisors regarding the amount of funding needed for EMS services. The board of supervisors may then propose a local income surtax or property tax to fund these services, which must be approved by voters
On March 4, 2025, in accordance with Iowa Code Title X, Chapter 422D.2b, the Bremer County Board of Supervisors established an EMS Systems Advisory Council consisting of 15 members. This council represents a cross-functional team from throughout the county.
